YLHS Golf Team Dinner Fundraiser 3/2 - Men's Team Kick Off Meeting

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow, Wednesday, March 2, is our monthly YLHS Golf Team Dinner Fundraiser at "Lamppost Pizza-East Yorba Linda" (Albertson's shopping center). Bring all your neighbors and friends to have lunch or dinner. Take out and delivery orders are also valid for proceeds. There will also be the boy's kickoff meeting beginning at 6 pm at Lamppost Pizza. It's very important for everyone to attend as lots of information will be discussed including information on the upcoming Golf Tournament.

Remember, we get 25% of YLHS Golf Booster proceeds from the TOTAL bill including "Take Out" and delivery orders. Don't forget your flyers.

Update on Men's Golf matches for 2/28 and 3/1

The Men's Varsity golf season is off to a good start with 2 wins and no losses. They beat Fullerton High School at Fullerton Golf Course with a total of 209 to 258. They also beat Loara High School at Dad Miller Golf Course with a score of 195 to 245. The team was led by Jeremy Reyes and Jordan Fox who both shot 1 under par 34 and were co-low medalist for the match.

The JV team lost a tough season opener to Servite High School by only 12 strokes.

2011 MENS GOLF SEASON TRYOUTS

The 2010 women's golf team banquet will be at the Yorba Linda Country Club on December 2nd @ 6:30 p.m. Scheduled events included for a fun filled evening to highlight the season with recognition for the team and their accomplishments. CAR WASH FUNDRAISER - A BIG SUCCESS

Thanks to everyone who participated in our car wash fundraiser... and to J-Star Motors for hosting the event. We had a successful day even with the weather conditions... nearly 60 vehicles washed and a strong pre-sale ticket campaign put us slightly over $1000 raised during the event for the golf program. The Booster Club wants to say "good job" to all the team members and to the parents who made this fundraiser a big success....

GIRLS 2010 SEASON UPDATES

The 2010 Girls season is still in play with several players advancing to the second round of league finals scheduled for 10/20/2010. Taylor Harder and Gabby Macias advanced through the first day with scores of 42 & 44 respectively. The girls finished the regular season with a win over Kennedy High School with a score of 260 vs. 313. Katalina Park was the low medalist for the match. A big congratulations to all the girls who participated this season and their efforts to make YLHS Golf a recognized program that is getting stronger with each event.....

GIRLS VARSITY WINS FIRST MATCH IN LEAGUE PLAY

The women's varsity team played their first match in league play on Monday against Western H.S. @ Black Gold. The women played well keeping the combined team score @ 262 vs. Western HS of 267. Nice win to start league play and puts the women's varsity team record at 3 wins & 1 loss. Check the women's golf match schedule for upcoming events....

YLHS GOLF BANQUET - FAMILY TOURNAMENT EVENT

Please mark your calendar for the upcoming year end golf banquet to be held at the Fullerton Golf Course on June 12th. The planned events include a mini tournament to have the parents and kids play 9 holes We will be having a mini golf tournament on Sat June 12th...just for fun and just for the golf team (Men's and Women's) and their family....totally optional. Unfortunately we were unable to get a shotgun start, so we will have to limit participants to 24. If you are interested, tee times will start at 1:30pm and we should all be finished by 4:45 (9 holes and an alternating shot format). Cost is $40 person, and includes a cart but no food. So if you are interested, please be getting your twosome together (student and family member please) and give me an email so we can get your time established. If you are not interested, it would still be nice to hear from you. That way we won't need to call you. Boys' Awards Banquet will follow at 5pm. We would appreciate payments this Wed at golf practice if possible, but for sure I need a headcount by this Friday for both the tourney and Awards Banquet. Once again, payments are:

$40 per golfer
$20 per adult for the Men's Awards Banquet
$10 per sibling for the Awards Banquet

The YLHS Golf Booster Club tournament May 21st is in high gear and slots are starting to be filled. SPRING BRINGS GREAT GOLF

The mens team continues to play great golf with more wins this past week. The JV team scored wins against Western in 2 matches and Modena with good team scores. The Frosh / Soph team had a win in the make-up match and two tough losses against Modena & Orange Luthern...... The overall season record is now @ 26 wins & 8 losses. Their are some good matches this coming week with Esperanza, Servite, Troy, Fullerton, & Orange Luthern so let's keep the momentum up and support strong as we start the final stretch of the 2010 season.... LONG DRIVES - SWEET PUTTING

The mens golf team enjoyed their spring break with a few matches in this perfect weather. The JV team played Orange High School this week at Black Gold and El Prado with wins in both events. The Frosh/Soph team faced a strong program from Troy with a tough loss. The matches for the next few weeks will bring some strong competition for both teams and should be exciting down to the last putt. The scores are improving on both teams as they continue to develop their individual games. Overall record for the YLHS Men's Golf Program is 22 wins / 6 losses... right at an 80% winning percentage. GO MUSTANGS!

A STRONG WEEK AGAINST STRONG COMPETITION

For the week, the mens teams faced some strong competition and managed to get themseleves into position to take a few matches... Starting with Servite, the matches were split with the JV & Frosh/Soph programs. On Wednesday against Canyon, the JV team played well with some very strong scores being posted to take their 2nd win for the week. On the last match of the week against Orange Luthern, it was a tough battle with a team that is probably the strongest program YLHS has played this year... A close round throughout with a battle to the end with Orange Luthern winning. Through March 26th, the men's combined record now stands at 16 wins / 4 losses..... This has been an incredible year considering this being our 1st year with the golf program. GO MUSTANGS!

MUSTANGS HAVE BIG WINS THIS PAST WEEK

It was a great week for the men's golf programs during the past week. The JV team went 4 / 0 with wins against Tustin, Katella, Garden Grove, & Loara... this puts the JV season record at 9 / 1 to date. The Frosh/Soph team finished with a strong week with a 2 / 1 record with wins against Fullerton & Katella. The Frosh/Soph team is now 5 / 1 for the season with big improvements in their team scores. YLHS Men's Golf program is now at a 14 / 2 record this season.. In other news, the YLHS Golf Booster Club tournament on May 21st is now open for registrations. It's been an amazing season to date with a combined record now at 8 and 1 for the boys golf teams. The JV team marked another win today against Tustin High School @ Black Gold while the Frosh/Soph team are still undefeated with a win against Fullerton High School at the Fullerton course this afternoon. This is an amazing start for the team in a 1st year program.... so be sure to make an effort to let your guys now that they are doing an amazing job. GO MUSTANGS
